There have been a couple of instances in the past weeks of families having difficulties with student home use of the internet. We encourage all parents to be aware of when and where their children are accessing the World Wide Web – which thanks to home wireless can be done on many devices. Some of the advice passed on in Term One during our parent information night were:
- Use of devices should be in a public place in the house – not bedrooms.
- Sites and apps should be age appropriate (Device settings can be limited or locked)
- Chat sites and social networking are generally inappropriate for primary aged students.
Our parent night was run by ESmart, a part of the Alannah and Madeline foundation. For more details click here.
